About Photo Industry Radio:
 |
Photo Industry Radio (www.WPIR.FM) is a dramatic innovation in the photo industry that allows suppliers to the trade to convey to prospective customers the economic opportunities afforded by the products they offer. The structure of the program is entirely based on the business case for investing in new concepts and equipment. Unlike print media, the listener can experience voice inflection and an interactive environment to learn in a powerful way.
Hosted by industry veteran, Roger McManus founder and publisher of Photo Imaging Entrepreneur magazine for 17 years, WPIR.FM follows in the footsteps of that title. The programming thesis asserts that it matters less about the technology behind a product than how the product makes money for the purchaser. It’s all about the bottom line. |
Each weekly one-hour “narrowcast” is performed with a live audience that participates using a bridge-line telephone connection. The audience for the program is generated by qualified, registered members of the photo industry (not unlike qualified readers of a magazine). The audience is notified of the regularly scheduled narrowcasts through regular and scheduled reminders. Registered members of the audience will also receive an RSS feed of the program.
Each show will include questions from the live audience. Those who dial into the program will have a chance to participate, although a qualified industry member can listen to the program at any time in the future. Each one-hour show devotes at least 10 minutes to audience participation. This allows for enthusiasts to be heard and questions to be answered.
In today’s busy world, “multi-tasking” is an increasing phenomenon. Listeners to WPIR can not only listen to the program as they do other things, they can replay parts they want to hear, download them for later consumption, forward them to friends in the business, pause the program to answer the phone and, in mid-stream, look at an offer or product being described or discussed in the program on the web.
Not only can an audience member participate interactively if he or she is listening to the live show, listening to archived shows is interactive, too. Virtually all Internet radio listeners today are sitting at or near a computer with a browser window open. Should a question arise or more information sought, Internet radio listeners are able to immediately go to a website for more information (and they can pause the program as they do.) Current and all past shows are available by MP3 download at www.wpir.fm/archives.html or www.photoindustryradio.com.
The targeted audience consists of those entrepreneurs who own specialty retail outlets such as what was historically known as “one-hour photo” (even though both one-hour and exclusively photo are now misnomers) and outlets historically known as “camera stores” (even though that name limitation is a bit of a misnomer, too.)
Listeners may replay any advertising spot they hear on the air at any time directly from the WPIR.FM website. |
